The Game Is Free — But Can You Keep It? Four Steam and Epic Offer Types
The free weekend, demo, free-to-play, and permanent library offer are not the same. Separate time, version, and access type in Steam and Epic campaigns.

The title 'It was free' is incomplete information alone. You may be able to try the game alone on the weekend, play a limited demo, or gain access by adding it to your account over a certain period of time. Read the type of access first when evaluating a discount news. This guide is not today's campaign list; it is a method of checking to accurately interpret changing offers.
Free game with weekend on Steam is different
Valve's Free Weekends document, explains that the free weekend offers limited access for a period of time. When the event is over, just because the game appears in the library does not mean that the right to continue playing may be continued. To continue, a purchase may be required. The demo is a separate trial version; the free-to-play model is also different.
Apply this distinction to the news title: 'Free to play', 'Free to add to your account'? Two statements are not the same. Switch to the game's own store page when you see a share that doesn't explain the time and conditions.
Don't miss the bid time at Epic
Epic Games' help statementIndicates that the weekly free offer must be acquired within the time period, and that the acquired game can be kept in the account without immediate download. Check the current game and the conditions that appear for your account from the store.
Downloading a game's file and adding the license to your account is not the same process. Verify that you are in the correct account and the acquisition has been completed. Use the official account flow if security is requested to verify; do not use the code or account sent by the third party.
Type version and scope in the same line
One offer may include the main game alone, the other may contain the additional package. Your original control table should contain the game name, store, version, access type, date, and basic playspaces required. You may notice that the page you open 'play free' offers only one additional content.
Don't make the discount percentage as well as the decision measure alone. The content you already have, the system requirements and the time you can really allocate is important. The data and storage spent to download are also part of the planning, especially in big games.
Don't make incomplete promises when sharing the news
On your own social media sharing, open the store, the type of offer, and the time you confirm. Do not confuse local time with the ending given in the different time zone. Do not use the screenshot of the old campaign as if it were new.
This approach is not meant to reduce the excitement of 'free', but to prevent false expectation. The good opportunity is not just the zero price tag; it is the offer that you know what you have access to and under what circumstances that access will last.
